Asia

Asia historically has been a gravitational force in the international system, often covert. Its economic momentum, political weight, and infrastructural ambition are now reshaping how the rest of the world engages with power, partnership, and progress.

At Stone Hill Group, our focus on Asia is evolving. While not yet a core consulting domain, Asia informs our work, particularly in understanding how European and African actors align with, compete against, or learn from Asian strategies of development, diplomacy, and governance.

We take a particular interest in regions where multiple global visions converge, such as Russia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean rim. These are the crossroads where Chinese investment, Gulf ambitions, European outreach, and local agency all intersect.

We are attuned to the subtle dynamics that define cooperation in Asia: from infrastructure projects cloaked in strategic intent to civic movements navigating authoritarian landscapes. As European consultants, we engage with Asia as observers, collaborators, and interpreters, always aware that the story is still unfolding.

We observe with focus:

  • Foreign connectivity projects in Asia, including digital corridors and trade routes

  • Soft power rivalries between democratic and state-led models of influence

  • Civic transitions, including environmental, technological, and youth-led shifts

  • Asia’s growing presence in Africa, and its implications for EU-AU relations

Asia may not be where we are based, but it is where many global strategies take root. At Stone Hill Group, we listen to Asia to better serve our clients everywhere else.
